Daryl Lee

Daryl is a Year 3 PhD student under the guidance of A/P Sylvie Alonso from the Infectious Disease Translational Research Programme (IDTRP), and the Department of Microbiology & Immunology, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS). He completed his undergraduate studies at NUS with a Bachelor of Science, Honours (Distinction) in Life Sciences and a minor in Forensic Science. His interest in microbiology, particularly pathogens responsible for infectious diseases was ignited during his Final Year Honors Project (FYP) in A/P Sylvie Alonso lab, where he studied the interaction between host factor LIMK1 and enterovirus 71, the pathogen responsible for Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. He continued to pursue his PhD under her guidance, and is now looking into the development of a universal flu vaccine. His other interests include travelling, cooking and cocktail mixing.
